Our favorite story this week ran in The Daily News (12/2). It concerns one Ernesto Bailey, 31, who police (plus video footage) say battered and burned to death a helpless cat on July 25th in front of his Bronx building. Bailey told the police the cat was to blame: “It entered my apartment and was scratching me and my kids.”
When Bailey showed up on Monday for a hearing, he was greeted outside the courtroom by a group of peaceful protestors with signs demanding “Justice for Kitty Doe”.
He turned tail and ran, later telling the judge,”I was confronted by an angry mob of people. It was a really hectic situation.”
Fraidy Cat Bailey is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, torture of an animal, reckless endangerment and arson. He was released on $25,000 bail. Next hearing is January 13.
We have a feeling he hasn’t seen the last of this vicious mob.
